Thank your Janitor

When I go out for dinner at Texas Roadhouse I think little of what it took to make the experience possible. When shopping at the grocery store I rarely thank the employee stocking the shelves. When driving home I only complain about how bad the roads are, despite my inherent appreciation for their mere existence. I think this lack of appreciation for the world around us is a primary failure of capitalism and liberalism. The pursuit of individual wealth/success is so pre-eminent that we forget to appreciate and be grateful for the historic success of our community. If we don't value our community, then it will breakdown. So, thank your janitor and the kid putting away your grocery cart.
